The World in History

It's official. The most powerful man on earth is now Barack Obama.
This proves that nothing is impossible in this world, as long as you work (hard) for it.

Click here for his victory speech.

(Oh please God, Brunei needs someone like this to make changes!)

Salaam

Barack Hussein Obama is God's gift to the Land of Dreams, Mrs RE! The first time I saw him on CNN giving his inaugural speech as a Democratic Senator four years ago, I knew he had the makings of the first African-American President of the US. It's UNBELIEVABLE but that's his fate! :)

IT'S NICE TO HAVE NEW PRESIDENT, SEEING IS BELIEVING, HE NEEDS TO KEEP HIS 'CHANGE' WORDS INTO REALITY, DONT FORGET A LOT OF CHALLENGES AHEAD OF HIS TENURE, US CREDIT CRISIS NOW TURN GLOBALLY CONTAGIOUS, UGLY FOREIGN POLICY, DOMESTIC, GLOBAL ECONOMY GOING DEEP RECESSION, IT WOULD BE A ROCKY FAST LANE FOR HIM. WISH HIM SUCCESS...

i have always wondered whoever decided that the leader of the US is the leader of the free world....

If i was a voting American, i would have definitely voted for Obama, he seems to have a greater cultural awareness (than the current leader), he really shines in his rhetorical skills, he really can hold his ground as his speeches (and ideas) have proven so. "CHANGE" seems to be what the young generation is dying for, and (being a Gen y myself) so it should be...

i just hope Mr newly-elected President doesnt steamroll the fact that there are more powers at work in this world, than just the US

If Brunei wants change, then she will have to prove it to others by being able to make it happen within herself for i dont find anything great in us waiting for Obama to come and sort us out...

Please....

Obama will be another American Pharoah who will be a protectionist esp with their current American crisis.

Just look at his new Chief of Staff, Rahm Emmanuel, who served in the Israeli Army. The pro-Jewish lobby wins again by installing yet another 'puppet of change'.

There is no doubt he is a charismatic orator with impeccable timing on the delivery of his speeches yet his campaign of over US$400 million is baffling. That amount of money could've been put to good use by helping out the poor Americans who aren't getting their proper health-care and who've been forced to foreclose their homes.

His promise last year of only using a limited public spending of US$185 million for the campaign was not kept. And we expect him to keep his promises to the world.

Before we go and admire the great American Empire and their elected leader, think of the de-stabilization their economy has done to the global market.
They have the audacity to sheriff the world with their army and lecture us on free trade yet they turn a blind eye away from the famine in Sudan, the killings in Congo and invade freely other countries borders as the present case is in Syria.
Capitalism and Democracy is a failed idealogy. And their media as always have flowered up their new hero, Obama to be a saviour of the American Empire and the World.

Do we really want someone like this in Brunei? Be careful what you wish for.
